Whyt Whey Commons - November 12, 2002

1) Times for the next meeting were discussed as well as a regular schedule.
	2nd Wednesdays seemed to be a reasonable choice and were
	settled on for the time being.  The next meeting will be December
	11, at 7:30.  The next meeting will also be held at 552 Riverside
	Dr., in the basement community room.
		At the Dec. 11 meeting, whether to leave the meetings
	at Riverside or try to rotate them through other sites will be
	discussed.

2) A carpool to Ostgardr commons on Friday the 15th was arranged.

3) Officers and possible officers were discussed.

		Deputy - 	Maebh (I apologize for the spelling)
	Proposed Chronicler - 	Eularia Trewe

	So there are a number of offices available if people would like
	to fill them, but the required officers are covered.  We do
	need to line up deputies for the critical offices of
	Sensechal and Exchequer, and it wouldn't hurt to have
	deputies for all the offices.

4) The idea of trying to hold an actual Whty Whey event was proposed.
	The major difficulty, of course, is finding a site.  We discussed
	what the requirements for a site:
		free parking - without this it will be hard to draw
			anyone outside the canton.
		seating for 50-75 for a feast.
		kitchen facilities for a feast
		reasonable price
	The ideal site would also have space for a tournament, either
	rattan or rapier.  It was suggested that a Canton Defender
	Tourny could be held, alternating between rattan and rapier.
	We need to start looking for sites now if we'd like to try
	to have an event in the fall of 2003.

5) The hardcopy newsletter was discussed.  A subscription price of $5 for
	12 issues was suggested, this covers postage but assumes that materials
	and labour are donated.

Action Items:
	Ben of Broken Bridge said that he has an old copy of the Cheesecloth
		database.  Eularia needs to get a copy of that.
	The Seneschal needs to get a copy of an Ostgardr specific laws or
		bylaws, to see which of them might affect our group (for
		instance, rules concerning officer elections might
		well affect our sub-group.)
	If possible, we need to get an up-to-date list of SCA members in 
		Whyt Whey.
	We should put together a Whyt Whey Populace Roll, with all active
		players, whether members or not, in the area, with contact
		information.  That way, Whyt Wheyvians can contact
		each other, and we can devise a phone tree if information
		needs to be gotten out quickly.
	Related to those, we need to get the subscribers list for the
		Cheesecloth in order.
	The status of the email list (cantonofwhytwhey@yahoogroups.com)
		needs to be verified.  There were two, I believe, but
		one should be decomissioned and a local manager/owner
		put in place for the active one.  Has this been done?


For Ostgardr Commons:
	If possible, we should confirm the proposed officers and start
	the ball rolling on warrants, as well as finding out reporting
	requirements and so forth.
