Whyt Whey Commons - November 20, 2003 Attending: Ailith Eppu Jensen Alexandre d'Avigne Jeff Berry Elissa Corsini Laruie Porster Eularia Trewe Lorree True Jan van Atwerpen Rick Sanford Sancha Jessica Valadez Tamara Sans Nomme Tamara Bedic Continuing Business: 1) December Commons will also be at 552 RSD, on the 11th, and will include a post-mortem of the Yule Event. 2) There are no sewing circles currently scheduled. They will begin again at Medb's in March. Tamara may hold some in the interim at her place. 3) Ostgardr Commons on Nov. 21th will be at 552 Riverside. Officers Reports: 1) Knight Marshall: Jibril emailed a report: --- a. To Square or not to Square - more discussion on the pros and cons to continuing in Union Square. Let me note that I have heard many opinions on this issue and there is no rush to move out of the Square, but I would like to discuss this more before bringing any suggestions to the table. b. Winter Warmth - finding an indoor practice for the winter. I would like to get a group of people together, no more than 10, with varying interests for school demos. Once we have a core group, I'd like to solicit schools of various levels about doing demos for the students in exchange for usage. c. Secretariat - WW's official practice - we will need to start collecting waivers at practice, as well as checking authorization cards. This means that we should keep a running list of who is coming to practice and we should also work on obtaining a list of authorized fighters periodically. --- The idea of putting together a demo squad was batted around. The new corporate waiver policy was explained and discussed as well. 2) Mistress of A&S: Tamara said that she had been looking into stained glass classes in NJ, but they were very expensive. She mentioned that a thrift shop near her had a bunch of period patterns and she was thinking that she would buy them and loan them out. She and Sancha, aka the White Whey White Linen Workers, are starting to make chemises and such for people at cost + a $5 donation to Whyt Whey. [Earmarked for Gold Key I believe - Ed.] Contact them for more info. 3) Web Minister: Lev also emailed in a report. He says the web is going well, he's keeping it updated. At some point he'd like to add a newcomers' page. 4) Exchequer: Not in attendance, no report. $5 from WW petty cash was given to Sancha to buy candles for Yule. She was reminded to bring back receipts. 5) Herald: Sancha reports all is quiet. Eularia was chastised for not submitting since she's got all her documentation already. 6) Seneschal: Alexandre was approached by Sir Tanaka from Rusted Woodlands about a gaming con in February. They want us to rent a dealer's table and space may be limited for this one; however, gamers are a natural for us, we think, so we talked about various options. 7) Chronicler: The Cheesecloth is out. Send more stuff for By the Whey. 8) Historian: Absent. No report. Recent Events: 1) Elissa reported on the MLK School Demo. She, Ervald and Judith were there and it went quite well. 2) Agincourt was a success! The French won [as it should be - Ed.] and the Corybants tried out some new stuff, including Henry the V ... Minutes. 3) Several Whyt Wheyvians also made it up to King's and Queen's Rapier Champions in Carolingia, where a good time was had by all. Upcoming Events: 1) 100 Minutes War is this weekend. The Corybants will be reprising Henry the V ... Minutes. 2) Yule Event! More details are falling into place. The handwashing is set up and will take place around 5:45 - after the play and right before the food. Ailith will be doing the decorations with Medb. Eularia will look into borrowing a table from 552 RSD for the event. The tables will have to be recycled: tables in use during the day will have to be cleared for feast, including the A&S Display, Dayboard and Merchant. A program will be prepared including notes on the play, a schedule, information on St. Nicholas relics and items, and all of Alexandre's articles and recipes. The activities for the event include: - Puppet play (Tres Clerici) - Lord of Misrule - Blindman's Bluff - Music-drama (Filius Getronis) - Handwashing (Jadwiga wrote something that we used as a program insert at another event. I will try to get it again) - St Nicholas relics & items Submitted by Alexandre d'Avigne
