Whyt Whey Commons - October 14, 2004 Attending: Ailith Eppu Jensen Alexandre d'Avigne Jeff Berry Elianne of Ynys Enlli Susan Dahlinger Elissa Corsini da Sicilia Laurie Porstner Llywellan ap Rhys Tom McCann Valgard Stonecleaver Mike Cramer Continuing Business: 1) Commons in November will be Thursday the 11th (Veterans' Day) at 7:30 at Alexandre's. Officers Reports: 1) Knight Marshall: (via email) Nothing too new, although the fighting was fun at the Cloisters with pictures sent to the web minister. Luis notes that armour should be inspected at least every other week at official practices. 2) Mistress of A&S: No report. 3) Web Minister: No report. 4) Exchequer: No report. Seneschal added that we should be receiving a check from the Ft. Tryon Medieval Fest sometime soon. 5) Herald: No report. 6) Seneschal: Quiet. 7) Chronicler: Eularia said via email that there would be no October Cheesecloth, but a double November issue would be in the works. (As an aside, for those of you playing at home, Cheesecloth subscriptions are for a given number of issues, not a time period. So, a "yearly subscription" is actually a 12 issue subscription.) Recent Events: 1) Barleycorn was well attended and a lot of fun. 2) The Queen's Farm Demo was rained out on Saturday, but had a decent turnout Sunday. Rather than being near the pig races as we were last year, we were near the skunk races instead. 3) Coronation also had a good attendance. Valgard made some interesting comments about the well-executed theatricality of the Royal activities. A pretty good event. 4) Fort Tryon Medieval Festival. Very nice turnout. The Viceroy estimated perhaps thirty or forty SCA folk showed up for at least part of the day. A good crowd as well. 5) Elianne made it to Wear Schola and said that their attendance was a little low, resulting in roving packs of feral teachers. (The paraphrase is mine - Ed.) A mixed bag, therefore. Upcoming Events: 1) Agincourt, which may not be the last event ever at the site, is Nov. 6. 2) Bearbaiting, etc. up in Carolingia is opposite Agincourt. Alexandre is committed to that one - after all they're using his head! 3) A Von Halstern event is also on the same date. Winterwolf Tourney. 4) Crown Tourney is in Vermont October 29-31, and Valgard will be fighting. 5) Crossed Blades Tavern is in Northpass, Nov. 11-14. 6) 100 Minutes War is opposite the Saturday of Crossed Blades, Nov. 13. 7) St. Andrew's German Vacation in An Dubhaigeainn on Nov. 20 looks like fun. Other Business: 1) Elissa is thinking about setting up a museum event in November sometime. Submitted by Alexandre d'Avigne
